For all you dedicated regular readers, a quick post to say all went well today. The loose piece of cartilage was removed and was apparently “bigger than a quarter”. The doctor (“JP”), came by while I was just coming out of the anesthesia and said a bunch of stuff about the defect that I don’t remember at all so will find out more next week at my follow-up.
Thank you so much for all your support. I was really touched by the number of people that offered to help out over the next few day. That really meant a lot to me.
Here’s what it looks like as of right now if you really want to see it (click to enlarge if you must)…
ouch.

glad all went well! What’s with the initials? Does he sign his work or is that so he’s sure he operates on the correct leg? LOL
Happy Recovery!
He came in before the surgery and said he was going to mark it (and yes, to make sure they do the right one) but I expected an “X”. Clearly and ego thing, don’t you think??
Glad to hear it went well and hope your full recovery is speedy!
Yikes! I’m a little behind with your blog/life. I’m so glad to hear that the surgery went well! Now do not overdo it! You rest young lady!
Loved the cane thing I’ve got lots of stories about being in the wheel chair/walker/cane.
And the letter to Nash – the part where he asked the score made me totally leaky. The video was darling. How wonderful!
Feel better soon and Happy Thanksgiving!!! We’ll have to catch up soon.
Love,
Jennifer
happy recovery! here’s to a few days in the giant bed with the delicious tv
Maria,
We’re all happy to hear that the procedure went well. I love the photo with the blood and the “JP”. Too bad his name wasn’t Dick. That would have been really funny.
Did you get to keep the cartilage? I wanna see a picture of that it a jar!
P.S. Are boys still allowed to read/comment in here?
Wow, I never realized that I don’t really have any boy commenters. Hmmmmmm. Must be too busy turning TVs off with their penises.
I was going to ask for the cartilage but the next thing I knew I was waking up looking at a picture of it. I’ll ask him for the photo as I might be going back as apparently, there isn’t supposed to be so much blood. Yikes!
shall i deliver the alcohol now or later?
Duh, now please!
Ouch!!! Wish I was there so mommy could kiss it and make it better. NOT! Have a speddy recovery,
Love
MOM
